The Dance School is run by Principal Julie Buck and supported by an experienced team of teachers and support dance teachers and volunteers. Julie is a qualified Allied Associate Ballroom dance teacher and she is currently studying for the Allied Licenciate qualification in Ballroom dance. Julie’s passion for dancing comes from her dancing family. Her mother and aunts were all dance teachers and it has always been Julie’s dream to run her own dance school.

Ballroom and Latin Classes

Adult classes follow the Allied Dance Association syllabus and there is an opportunity to take medal exams and enter competitions. The dance school offers expert tuition for those who have an ambition to take their dancing further or to compete.

The Dance School also offers classes and one-to-one tuition in many other genres of dance as well as Ballroom and Latin American dancing from absolute beginner to advanced level.

Sequence Dance Classes

Modern Sequence Dancing is represented by the dances that were developed mainly during the 20th Century. These dances use many of the same steps from traditional ballroom dancing, but in a fixed sequence. This includes Quickstep, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha and Jive. They are very popular at social dances and on cruises. We offer 2 sequence dance classes per week. Monday evening for dancers who are new to sequence and Tuesday evening for those dancers who are more experienced and familiar with the most popular ones. We also teach classical sequence dances, including the Veleta and Lilac Waltz as well as fun party dances like the Carribean Calypso.
